Gyankosh will be a knowledge pool that is slated to play a vital role in the development of Technical Writing community in India. To make this happen we need lot of good books. Though most of the books will be bought, some books can also be accepted through donations.

You can donate new or old (but good condition) books. Your name will be written on the book so that Gyankosh members come to know about your kind gesture.

The books can be related to the following topics

  • Technical Writing
  • English Grammar
  • Editing
  • Creative Writing
  • Business Writing/Communication
  • Management (Business Management, Project Management, People Management, Resource Management, Planning, Marketing…)
  • Advertising & Promotion
  • Technology (Software Development, Databases, RDBMS, Object Oriented Technologies, Agile Development, Embedded Technologies…)
  • HTML, XML, UML
  • Soft-skills (Communication, Presentation, Interviewing, Negotiations, Public Speaking…)

You can also donate

  • Training CDs
  • Audio Cassettes
  • Newsletters & Journals (Intercom, Technical Communication)
  • Other Periodicals (related to communication, technical communication, writing, technologies…)

If you wish that your donations should specifically be given to the Bangalore library, you are most welcome to say so. We will transfer these contributions to Gyankosh Bangalore as soon as it starts (planned in next 3 to 6 months, depending on the success of the Pune experiment).

STC India Chapter has decided to donate a sum of Rs. 40,000/- (Rupees forty thousand only) to Gyankosh. Technowrites will be donating a sum of Rs. 1,50,000/- (Rupees one lakh fifty thousand only) in phases over next one year.

Gyankosh has already received following personal contributions and I thank the contributors for the same.

  • Shubhangi Godbole (from BMC Pune): Rs. 1,500/- (Rupees one thousand five hundred only)
  • Pawan Nayar (from Cadence Noida): Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees one thousand only)
  • Wasique Robbani (from Cadence Noida): Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees one thousand only)
  • Mak Pandit (from Technowrites): Rs. 1,200/- (Rupees one thousand two hundred only)
  • Melanie Doulton (from BMC Pune): Rs. 1,500/- (Rupees one thousand five hundred only)

– – –
Total: Rs. 6,200/- (Rupees six thousand two hundred only)
– – –
We have also received the following as a personal donation from Mak Pandit

  • 15 issues of Technical Communication (the journal published by Society for Technical Communication)
  • 25 issues of Intercom (Newsletter published by Society for Technical Communication)

Since we will be having many non-STC members joining the library, the more copies of Intercom and Technical Communication we have, the better it will be. I appeal to all STC Members in India to think about donating past issues which they may not be referring to any more.

We propose to make previous issues of Indus (the award-winning newsletter of STC India Chapter) available in print-form (in multiple-copies). The activity will include printing the issues, making copies, binding them and sending them to me. Any one willing to volunteer for this effort please contact Mak (mp@vsnl.com).

STC India hopes that maximum members will take advantage of Gyankosh.

You are also welcome to give your donation in cash, cheque, or gift voucher form. For more information call Mak on +9198220 58813 or drop him an email (mp@vsnl.com).
