8th STC India Annual Conference@Bangalore

STC India Annual Conference is the much awaited conference for each and every technical writer. People from all over the country travel to attend this conference. More details about the conference can be viewed in the STC India website.

This year (2006) the conference was held at Grand Ashok, Bangalore from December 7th to 9th. The venue was too good, we had two halls very closeby where the sessions were happening in parallel. The sound track/background music played by the A/V team was fantastic.

Everytime somebody gets an award/gift/intro, there was this great music in the background which added the most wanted spice to the event πŸ™‚ The conference was well organized, though we had some confusions on the last day sessions. On the whole, it was yet again a top-notch event, thanks a tonne to the organizers and volunteers.

The Chief Guest for the event wasDr. Naresh Gupta, MD, Adobe India. Most of the STC City Reps and volunteers were given a recognition award and I was one of the fortunate person to get the award from the Chief Guest. This recognition award was for organizing the first ever regional conference in the Delhi (NCR) region.

THANKS a lot to Sanjib Sahu, Sr Technical Documentation Engineer from think3 Designs, Bangalore (my old company where I was working from 2003 to 2005) and Swaminathan from Siemens for sharing the pictures. I owe you one guys…

Some highlights of the event are sessions on DITA, Agile Software Development process, Single sourcing for Windows and UNIX based environments, Authoring documentation for Eclipse-based application, MS Office security and many more πŸ™‚

And, I am continuing as the Delhi (NCR) City Representative, STC India Chapter for the year 2007 too. If you are in NCR region, do try to attend the STC learning sessions and meetups πŸ™‚

To see the conference pictures, do check my Picasa album.

If you want to know anything specific about the conference, do contact me or add your comments. Would be more than happy to address those.

  7. Saravanan, who fearlessly undertakes the formidable task of organizing technical writers :-D, and with many wizards, elves, hard workers, and other creative people made the conference happen: Thank you for the informative conference and the hospitality to a visiting writer. I am doing a short presentation on the conference for my co-writers here (software company) in the US (Arizona),and of course it includes mention of the organizational and educational efforts that support all of this . . . Have a fine year.
